Our 5 Biblical Purposes
--Why We Exist As A Church--
The purpose of our church must align with God’s purpose for the church as found in these two key scriptures:
The Great Commandment: “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”—Mark 12:30-31
The Great Commission: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”—Mathew 28:19-20
To Baptize is to incorporate into FELLOWSHIP (Membership).
To Teach all the commands is DISCIPLESHIP (Maturity). To Love your neighbor as yourself is MINISTRY (Ministry).
To Go and. make disciples is EVANGELISM (Missions).
To Love God with all your heart is WORSHIP (Magnify).
Therefore, Horizon exists to carry out these 5 purposes through all it’s ministries and activities.
